How To Make homemade chicken pot pie
-
1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cut the chicken into the desired size.
-
2Cook on the stovetop on medium heat. Once hot, add oil and chicken. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink in the middle. Once done, remove from the pan and set aside.
-
3Dice the onion. Place onions and butter in the same pan you cooked your chicken in. Saute onions until softened.
-
4Lightly sprinkle flour over onions. Stir for a few minutes; don't let it burn.
-
5Once clumpy, add the chicken broth and milk. Stir to combine. Best to use a whisk to dissolve any flour. Simmer.
-
6Once it's thickened, add the cooked chicken along with the chives, parsley, Italian seasoning (optional), salt, and pepper. Stir.
-
7Add frozen veggies. Mix well. Stir occasionally.
-
8Remove the pan from the stove. Place the bottom crust in a pie pan, 9 inch. Poke the bottom of the crust with a fork several times.
-
9Add the mixture to the pie crust.
-
10Add top crust, crimp edges closed. Brush a layer of whisked egg over the surface of the pie (optional). Cut a vent with a knife in the top of the crust.
-
11Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown and flaky. Time may vary depending on the kind of pan you use.
-
12Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
