cowboy butter macaroni and cheese

I created this new macaroni and cheese recipe. It's inspired by Kinder's cowboy butter seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cubed processed American cheese
  • 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 4 tablespoons cowboy butter seasoning, divided
  • 16 ounces dry elbow macaroni
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Irish butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons barbecue seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make cowboy butter macaroni and cheese

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add cubed American cheese, crumbled blue cheese, and 2 tablespoons of cowboy butter seasoning; mix well.
  • Step 3
    Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  • Step 4
    Melt Irish butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and barbecue seasoning; whisk for about 20 seconds.
  • Step 5
    Slowly whisk in heavy cream, half and half, cream cheese, and remaining cowboy butter seasoning together until melted and creamy.
  • Step 6
    Add cooked macaroni; stir well. Cover and let it simmer for 8 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Remove from heat. Pour over a prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle with shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Step 8
    Bake for 30 minutes until the cheese is melted.
