Ingredients

  • 6 ounces elbow or spiral macaroni
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon accent
  • 2 pounds hamburger
  • 1/2 cup green onion, sliced
  • 3 slices bacon, but 1/2 inch thick
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 8 ounces mushroom stems and pieces, canned, drained
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce

How To Make company casserole, mom's

  • Step 1
    Cook macaroni, drain and combine with cheese, sour cream, basil and accent and spread over the bottom of a shallow 3 quart casserole. Brown bacon slowly in frying pan, add mushroom and onion and cook 1 minute. Add beef, cook and stir until meat is browned. Add salt, pepper, parsley and tomato after you drain off the fat. Cook 1 minute to blend the flavors. Pour over macaroni and sprinkle with parsley and shredded cheese if desired. Bake at 350 degrees 30 minutes. Can be easily refrigerated or frozen for baking at a later time.
