A form of this recipe has been in my family since I was a young girl and has always been a favorite. Since I have been making it, I have tweaked it some for my family's taste. It is very filling and a wonderful spin on a Chinese meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 medium
    onion
  • 1 c
    celery
  • 2 c
    instant rice
  • 2 can(s)
    cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1 can(s)
    mushrooms
  • 1 can(s)
    water chestnuts
  • 1 can(s)
    bean sprouts
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 1/2 bag(s)
    chow mein noodles

How to Make Chinese Casserole

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 casserole dish
  2. Brown ground beef, onion, and celery together. Drain well
  3. Put Instant Rice in the bottom of the prepared dish. Add Soup, Water, Mushrooms, Water Chestnuts, Bean Sprouts, and Soy Sauce. Stir to combine well.
  4. Add browned meat, onions and celery to rice mixture. Stir in well. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 45 minutes. Remove foil and top with Chow Mein Noodles. Bake for an extra 15 minutes.
