This new chicken nugget casserole recipe I created is in the style of chicken cordon bleu. It's great with side of garden salad and a piece of French bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 12 - almonds, chopped
  • 1 pound cavatappi pasta
  • 2 packages frozen (all white meat) chicken nuggets
  • 8 ounces cooked ham, cubed
  • 8 ounces swiss cheese, cubed
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 packet Italian salad dressing mix
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

How To Make chicken nugget cordon bleu casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Lightly coat the bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Add crumbled blue cheese and chopped almonds; mix well.
  • Step 3
    Cook cavatappi pasta according to package directions; drain. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  • Step 4
    Top with chicken nuggets, cubed ham and cubed Swiss cheese.
  • Step 5
    Mix soup, heavy cream, milk and Italian salad dressing mix in a medium bowl for 3 minutes until combined.
  • Step 6
    Spoon over cavatappi pasta mixture in the baking dish.
  • Step 7
    Melt margarine in a medium skillet over medium heat; cook and stir the bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese in hot margarine until the crumbs are well coated for 3 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Sprinkle over the casserole and spread evenly.
  • Step 9
    Bake for 30 minutes or until the casserole is bubbling and lightly browned. Cool completely for 6 minutes.
