Ingredients
- 3 chicken breasts
- 6 cups water
- 3 cups biscuit mix
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 3/4 - 1 cups milk
- 1 can cream of chicken or cream of celery soup (10.5 oz)
How To Make chicken and dumplings
-
Step 1Boil chicken in water until cooked.
-
Step 2While chicken is cooking, prepare biscuit dough by cutting butter into biscuit mix and adding milk. Adjust milk as needed to create a rollable dough.
-
Step 3Roll out the dough and cut into long strips.
-
Step 4When the chicken is done, remove it from the water and chop it up well.
-
Step 5Bring chicken water to a boil, and drop biscuit strips one at a time. Use a fork to keep them from lumping together.
-
Step 6Biscuit strips will puff up. Let them continue to cook down, and reduce the heat to medium.
-
Step 7Add chicken back into the pot and stir. Don't stir too hard or too much. You don't want your dumplings to break up into very small pieces.
-
Step 8Once the dough has cooked down a bit, add the can of cream of chicken soup, and stir until creamy.
-
Step 9Let continue to cook on low heat for 15 more minutes.
