There is nothing more yummy and comforting than a bowl of chicken and dumplings, and this recipe is a winner!

Ingredients

  • 3 chicken breasts
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 cups biscuit mix
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 3/4 - 1 cups milk
  • 1 can cream of chicken or cream of celery soup (10.5 oz)

How To Make chicken and dumplings

  • Step 1
    Boil chicken in water until cooked.
  • Step 2
    While chicken is cooking, prepare biscuit dough by cutting butter into biscuit mix and adding milk. Adjust milk as needed to create a rollable dough.
  • Step 3
    Roll out the dough and cut into long strips.
  • Step 4
    When the chicken is done, remove it from the water and chop it up well.
  • Step 5
    Bring chicken water to a boil, and drop biscuit strips one at a time. Use a fork to keep them from lumping together.
  • Step 6
    Biscuit strips will puff up. Let them continue to cook down, and reduce the heat to medium.
  • Step 7
    Add chicken back into the pot and stir. Don't stir too hard or too much. You don't want your dumplings to break up into very small pieces.
  • Step 8
    Once the dough has cooked down a bit, add the can of cream of chicken soup, and stir until creamy.
  • Step 9
    Let continue to cook on low heat for 15 more minutes.
