Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • thyme, to taste
  • 4 cups chicken stock
  • 4 cups cooked chicken, chopped to bite-size pieces
  • 10 ounces frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • DUMPLINGS
  • 2 cups Bisquick
  • 1 cup milk

How To Make chicken and dumpling casserole

  • Step 1
    Add butter to a large pan. Once melted, add the onion and sauté for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook 1 minute.
  • Step 2
    Sprinkle in the flour and season with salt. Add the chicken stock and cook until thickened.
  • Step 3
    Add the chicken and peas and cook for a couple of minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add the heavy cream. Taste and adjust for salt and pepper.
  • Step 5
    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray and 9x15 pan with cooking spray.
  • Step 6
    Pour the chicken mixture into the pan.
  • Step 7
    Mix the Bisquick with the milk. Drop by spoonfuls on top of the chicken mixture.
  • Step 8
    Bake for about 40 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked.
