This new burger casserole recipe I created is cheesy and filled with cavatappi pasta, banana peppers, and a first-ever creole cheese sauce.

Ingredients For cheesy creole burger casserole

  • 1 c
    crumbled cooked bacon
  • 8 oz
    pepperjack cheese, cubed
  • 4 Tbsp
    creole seasoning, divided
  • 1 lb
    dry cavatappi pasta
  • 3/4 c
    shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 lb
    ground round
  • 1 lg
    vidalia sweet onion, peeled and diced
  • 2
    banana peppers, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    creole mustard mixed with brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    steak seasoning
  • 2 tsp
    garlic pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp
    creamy wing sauce
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 c
    half and half
  • 2 c
    shredded colby jack cheese, divided

How To Make cheesy creole burger casserole

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add crumbled bacon and cubed pepperjack cheese; mix well with a fork.

    Season with 1 tablespoon creole seasoning evenly.

    Cook cavatappi pasta according to package directions; Drain. Transfer to a large bowl. Mix in shredded Parmesan cheese and 1 tablespoon creole seasoning.

    Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, diced vidalia onion and sliced banana peppers; cook for 3 minutes until evenly browned. Drain any excess fat.

    Mix creole mustard/brown sugar, steak seasoning, 1 tablespoon creole seasoning and garlic pepper together until combined.

    Melt margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Combine heavy cream, wing sauce, cream cheese, half and half, remaining creole seasoning and 1 cup shredded colby jack cheese; stir together and let it simmer for 8 minutes until blended and thickened.

    Add cooked cavatappi pasta and beef mixture; mix well until combined. Remove from heat.

    Pour into a prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining shredded colby jack cheese.

    Bake for 35 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
