cabbage roll casserole
I love cabbage rolls, but hate taking the time to make them. If someone made them for me, I'd be thrilled I like them so much. However, this makes the flavor that I love, without the trouble. This is a great casserole!

Ingredients
- 2 pounds hamburger
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 30 ounces canned tomato sauce, divided
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dill weed
- 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 4 - bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
- 2 pounds head of cabbage, shredded
- 4 ounces part skim mozzarella
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
How To Make cabbage roll casserole

Step 1Fry hamburger, onion and garlic over med heat until no longer pink, drain. Stir in one can of tomato sauce and seasonings. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 5 min. Stir in rice and bacon, heat through and remove from heat.

Step 2Layer 1/3 cabbage in greased 9x13. Top with half the meat. Repeat layers, top with remaining cabbage. Pour remaining tomato sauce over top. Cover and bake at 375 degrees for 45 min. Uncover, sprinkle with cheese. Bake 10 min more or until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 min before serving.
