If you like cabbage rolls but not all the work, then this recipe is worth a try.
The amount of each ingredient is flexible. Less meat, more cabbage, less rice, some sugar etc. I'm trying to emulate my mother's cabbage roles :)

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lb
    ground pork
  • 1/2
    cabbage head, chopped
  • 2 c
    cooked rice
  • 28 oz
    tin crushed tomatoes
  • 14 oz
    tin diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 3 clove
    minced garlic
  • 1 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1
    large chopped onion

How to Make Cabbage Roll Casserole


  1. Brown meat, onions, garlic in large skillet.
  2. Add cooked rice, crushed tomatoes, seasonings and stir.
  3. Place in large casserole dish or deep lasagna pan.
  4. Preheat oven to 350F.
  5. Saute chopped cabbage in same large skillet until softened.
  6. Spread cabbage on top of casserole.
  7. Pour tin of diced tomatoes over all.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 1.5 hours.
