beefy onion melt casserole
I created a special casserole recipe. It's a style of patty melt with an onion flavor; it's filled with onion rings and seasoned with Kinder's smoked onion and caramelized onion butter seasonings.

Ingredients
- 1 bag frozen onion rings, thawed
- 1 cup diced processed American cheese
- 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 6 tablespoons smoked onion seasoning, divided
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 medium Vidalia onion, peeled and sliced
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons caramelized onion butter seasoning, divided
- 1 tablespoon margarine
- 1 cup half and half
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened and cut into cubes
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
How To Make beefy onion melt casserole

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2Coat a 2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray. Add thawed onion rings, diced American cheese, crumbled blue cheese, and 2 tablespoons smoked onion seasoning; mix well with a fork.

Step 3Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, cook for 5 minutes or until crumbled and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.

Step 4Reduced to a low heat. Stir in sliced Vidalia onion, 2 tablespoons smoked onion seasoning, black pepper, and 1 tablespoon caramelized onion butter seasoning.

Step 5Remove from heat. Spoon into a prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Step 6Heat the margarine and remaining caramelized onion butter seasoning in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Step 7Combine half and half, sour cream, evaporated milk, dry onion soup mix, cubed cream cheese, and remaining smoked onion seasoning.

Step 8Whisk together and let it simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce is thickened.

Step 9Remove from heat. Pour over the ground beef mixture in the baking dish and sprinkle with shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

Step 10Bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 10 minutes.
