I created this new, delicious casserole recipe based on a patty melt, and it's inspired by Kinder's All Purpose seasoning, filled with shredded Gouda cheese.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices brioche bread, toasted
  • 8 ounces Gouda cheese, shredded and divided
  • 8 tablespoons all-purpose seasoning, divided
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons hamburger seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 large Vidalia sweet onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup cold heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 3 large eggs, beaten

How To Make all purpose patty melt casserole

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step 2
Coat the bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Step 3
Chop 5 toasted brioche bread slices into 2-inch chunks. Arrange at the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded Gouda cheese and 2 tablespoons of all-purpose seasoning.
  • Step 4
Process the remaining toasted bread slices in a food processor until they're coarse crumbs. Set aside.
  • Step 5
In a large, deep skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 6 minutes until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  • Step 6
Season with 2 tablespoons of all-purpose seasoning, garlic powder, and hamburger seasoning. Remove from heat. Spoon into the prepared baking dish evenly.
  • Step 7
Melt margarine and 1 tablespoon all-purpose seasoning in the same skillet over medium heat. Add sliced Vidalia onion and cook, stirring frequently, until soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  • Step 8
Arrange sauteed Vidalia onion over the ground beef mixture in the baking dish.
  • Step 9
In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, half and half, cream cheese, honey mustard, beaten eggs, and remaining all-purpose seasoning; mix well for 4 minutes. Spread over the beef mixture evenly.
  • Step 10
Top with crumbled brioche bread crumbs and remaining shredded Gouda cheese.
  • Step 11
Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
