Ingredients
- 1 pound ground sirloin (or lean ground beef)
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or mozarella cheese)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce, warmed
- 4 hamburger buns
How To Make pizza burgers
-
Step 1Mix together the ground beef, tomato paste, Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Form the beef into 8 thin patties.
-
Step 2Place 1 slice of cheese on a beef patty, keeping cheese at least 1/2-inch away from edge of the beef patty. (If needed, break cheese into small pieces, and place cheese bits on patty, overlapping as needed.) Top with another beef patty, and pinch patty edges together, to seal cheese inside. Repeat until you have 4 cheese-stuffed beef patties.
-
Step 3Heat a large skillet with vegetable oil. Add the stuffed patties, and cook until browned on the bottom, about 5 to 8 minutes. Flip and cook other side until thoroughly cooked (and internal temperature reaches 165°F), about 4 to 7 minutes more.
-
Step 4While burgers are cooking, you can toast the buns in a toaster, if you prefer.
-
Step 5Add a cooked burger to each bottom bun. Spoon some warm pasta sauce over each patty, and add the top buns. Serve immediately.
