grilled cheddar burgers
We like to use this basic recipe when we have a crowd over for a barbecue. It will make 8 child-sized and 4 adult-sized burgers.

Thanks to barbecue sauce mixed into the ground beef, the juicy burgers have a bit of sweetness to them. On top of a toasted bun with your favorite fix-ins (we opted for bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and pickles), for a delicious grilled hamburger.

Ingredients
- 3 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 cup purchased barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 - hamburger buns, lightly toasted
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
How To Make grilled cheddar burgers

Step 1Mix together ground beef, barbecue sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Step 2Shape half of meat mixture into eight 1/2-inch-thick patties.

Step 3Shape the remaining meat mixture into four 1-inch-thick patties. (Can be made 8 hours ahead). Cover and chill.

Step 4Prepare grill (medium-high heat). Grill patties to desired doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium-rare for 1/2-inch thick patties and about 6 minutes per side for medium-rare 1-inch thick patties.

Step 5Top with cheese the last minute of cooking.

Step 6Place burgers on the bottom halves of buns and top with lettuce and tomatoes and anything else that you like.

Step 7Cover with top bun.
