How To Make grilled blue cheese bacon burgers

  • Step 1
Cook bacon until crisp and fully cooked. Set bacon aside.
  • Step 2
Make the Special Sauce by combining the blue cheese dressing and hot sauce in a small saucepan placed over medium heat. Let it get very warm, stirring often (but don't let the sauce cook long enough to bubble or reach a boil).
  • Step 3
Preheat outdoor grill, and coat grill grates with oil.
  • Step 4
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, oatmeal, garlic, blue cheese crumbles, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, onion soup mix, salt and pepper with your hands until well combined. Let stand 10 minutes.
  • Step 5
Shape the beef mixture into 4 patties. Grill patties for approximate 4 to 6 minutes each side or until internal temperature reaches at least 160°F. Remove patties from grill and let rest about 5 minutes.
  • Step 6
Place onion slices on the grill for 2 to 3 minutes, then carefully turn with a metal spatula and let the other side cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Step 7
Spread a generous spoonful of the Special Sauce on each of the bun halves. Add lettuce, bacon slices, onion slices, and any other burger toppings of your choice. Top each with a hot grilled patty, then (if desired) sprinkle extra blue cheese crumbles on top of each hot beef patty. Place a top bun over each patty, and serve immediately while still hot.
