For the people who loved cheese on the burger, I created this new burger casserole recipe that is seasoned with Grill Mates' Hamburger Seasoning, filled with black forest ham pieces, chopped tomatoes and cubed American cheese on the bottom.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices deli black forest ham, sliced
  • 1 medium tomato, seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup cubed processed American cheese
  • 5 tablespoons hamburger seasoning, divided
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon steak sauce
  • 4 tablespoons honey mustard, divided
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 can cheddar cheese soup
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese

How To Make american burger casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add black forest ham pieces, chopped tomatoes, cubed American cheese and 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning; mix well with a fork.
  • Step 3
    Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped yellow onion; cook for 4 minutes until evenly browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Step 4
    Reduced to low heat.
  • Step 5
    Mix steak sauce, 2 tablespoon honey mustard and 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning together until combined. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Step 6
    Melt margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Step 7
    Combine heavy cream, cheddar cheese soup, half and half, cream cheese, 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning and remaining honey mustard; stir together and let it simmer for 8 minutes until blended and thickened.
  • Step 8
    Add ground beef mixture;mix well until combined.Remove from heat.
  • Step 9
    Pour into a prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded mild cheddar cheese and season with remaining hamburger seasoning.
  • Step 10
    Bake for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 15 minutes.
