Inspired by a burger mentioned on a talk show, I came up with this to suit my family's tastes. Of course, you can adjust amounts of hot sauce and cayenne to your own taste. Also, you can cook them in a pan if grilling isn't your thing.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground turkey
  • 1/4 c
    onion, minced
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced or grated
  • 2 tsp
    hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1 tsp
    kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper, or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp
    red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • CELERY - BLUE CHEESE RELISH

  • 3 stalk(s)
    celery, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 c
    red onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    parsley, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon zest
  • 1/4 c
    blue cheese crumbles
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • SPICY SAUCE

  • 1/2 c
    mayonnaise, light
  • 2 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 2 tsp
    hot sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    honey or agave
  • 1/4 tsp
    cayenne, or more, to taste

How to Make Buffalo-style Turkey Burgers

Step-by-Step

  1. BURGER: Fold onions, garlic, hot sauce, thyme, black pepper, and chile flakes into ground turkey. Gently form 4 patties.
  2. Grill burgers on medium heat, 5-7 minutes per side. Lightly butter cut sides of buns and place on the grill for a couple minutes.
  3. RELISH: Combine ingredients in a small bowl. Either place on top of burger or use as a side.
  4. SAUCE: Mix all of the ingredients together. Spread on toasted burger bun.
