    italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp
    red pepper, crushed
  • 2
    minced garlic cloves
  • 1/4 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lb
    ground turkey
  • 1/2 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1/3 c
    grated parmesan cheese
  • 16 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 6-8
    hoagie type sandwich rolls, split and warmed
  • 2 Tbsp
    red wine vinegar
  • CONDIMENT CHOICES

    shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ·
    bell peppers, red and yellow strips
  • ·
    onions, sliced
  • ·
    olives

How to Make Zesty Meatball Sandwiches-Crock Pot

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large bowl, beat egg with salt, italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and garlic.
  2. Add chopped onion, beef, turkey, bread crumbs and parmesan cheese; mix well.
  3. Shape mixture into 1 inch balls and brown in a large skillet.
  4. Drain meatballs and transfer to a 5 quart crockpot.
  5. In the same bowl, mix tomato sauce and wine; pour over meatballs.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 5 1/2 to 6 hours.
  7. To serve: place 3 to 4 meatballs in each split roll; top with sauce from crockpot.
  8. If desired add condiments and serve.
