Ingredients

  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper, crushed
  • 2 - minced garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 6-8 - hoagie type sandwich rolls, split and warmed
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • CONDIMENT CHOICES
  • - shredded mozzarella cheese
  • - bell peppers, red and yellow strips
  • - onions, sliced
  • - olives

How To Make zesty meatball sandwiches-crock pot

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, beat egg with salt, italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and garlic.
  • Step 2
    Add chopped onion, beef, turkey, bread crumbs and parmesan cheese; mix well.
  • Step 3
    Shape mixture into 1 inch balls and brown in a large skillet.
  • Step 4
    Drain meatballs and transfer to a 5 quart crockpot.
  • Step 5
    In the same bowl, mix tomato sauce and wine; pour over meatballs.
  • Step 6
    Cover and cook on low for 5 1/2 to 6 hours.
  • Step 7
    To serve: place 3 to 4 meatballs in each split roll; top with sauce from crockpot.
  • Step 8
    If desired add condiments and serve.
