My mom made this for us years ago. It is a GREAT recipe for colder fall/winter nights. It has a bit of a kick so, WATCH OUT!!!! I love soup, but mostly when it is cold outside. My husband can eat it anytime, so we were eating this spicy soup in July!! I thought I was going to die! lol

prep time 45 Min
cook time 3 Hr 25 Min
method Stove Top
yield 6-8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds hamburger
  • 6 - potatoes, diced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cans green beans
  • 2 cans corn
  • 1 can carrots
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup jalapeños, the jarred kind works great
  • - beef seasoning, to taste
  • - salt and pepper
  • - couple dashes oregano

How To Make zesty hamburger soup

  • Step 1
    Brown hamburger in skillet. Drain.
  • Step 2
Place all ingredients in slow cooker or on the stove and cook until potatoes and onions are done. I put mine in a slow cooker on low heat during the day while at work.
  • Step 3
*I pour a tad bit of the juice from the jalapeños in the soup, just to add that extra kick!! Also, you may need to add more tomato sauce/water/etc. This soup is thicker and some like their soup with more juice. I also use fresh carrots instead of canned carrots. This may require a longer cook time.
