zapped,"sloppy joes"on a grilled bun
Fast and easy.A 15 MINUTe recipe, using your micro-wave oven. Make the Joes, grill the buns, add some potato chips,a couple dill pickles and you have lunch for six people. This recipe has been in my family since 1973. I had one of the first micro-wave ovens, a large AMANA RADAR RANGE, that debuted in 1967 in CHGO. It was the only brand you could buy... for a few years. We purchased it in 1970, for $495.00 WE WOULD INVITE THE NEIGHBORS OVER, AND "Radar Range", 3-4 POUNDS OF BACON...for a taste testing party!!!!! Crazy...eh? Later we learned to cook various recipes. How To Make zapped,"sloppy joes"on a grilled bun
-
Step 1Crumble ground beef into a 2 quart glass casserole, then sprinkle with minced onion and green pepper. Cook, uncovered, on HIGH for 5 minutes, stirring to break meat into small pieces. Drain any fat juices, off. Discard juices.. Add all remaing ingredients, (except buns)Mix well.
-
Step 2Cook covered on HUGH for ten minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon onto bottom half of a grilled bun. Top with the top half. Serve hot. ** NOTE: If you would like to use ground turkey, the recipe remains the same, but then they are called: "SLOPPY JOSIES" !!
-
Step 3Serve with a couple dill pickle spears, and potato chips. Most people will eat 2-3 !!! ENJOY !

Step 4Picture of the first AMANA RADAR RANGE.. .It had only two dials ! It was almost the size of your stove oven.! We paid $495.OO in 1970 ! 40 years ago !!! Now they are much cheaper and are called MICRO-WAVE OVENS ! I have saved many, quick micro-wave recipes over the last 40 years. A boon to working moms, and people that live alone. I will be putting a few on JAP....soon.
