I have been making these meat pies for years. They freeze well. I use a jumbo 6-cup muffin tin - they are deep which are great for these pies. With the remaining pastry and meat, I roll out the pastry jelly-roll style, roll up and bake with the pies. Makes for a tasty snack for the cook! Enjoy!

  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt

How To Make yummy meat pies

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 6-cup muffin tin.
  • Step 2
Brown ground beef in a large saucepan. Add finely minced onion and mushrooms along with seasoned salt and Italian seasoning. Cook until everything is softened and most of the liquid evaporates.
  • Step 3
Add liquid gravy browning, dry brown gravy mix and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes to thicken. Add 2 cups of frozen peas. Mix well.
  • Step 4
Cut out pastry bottoms – using a circle that lets the pastry hang over the tops of the tart tins. Place the pastry bottoms in the tins and fill completely with the beef mixture.
  • Step 5
Cut out pastry tops and place over meat mixture. Seal the seams so that no mixture leaks out.
  • Step 6
Mix a large egg with a tbsp water. Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle steak seasoning or ground pepper over top.
  • Step 7
Bake for 30 - 35 minutes until browned.
