Yakitori is commonly a Japanese type of skewered chicken. The term Yakitori can also refer to skewered food in general. For this recipe I used beef but you can use pork or chicken too but you will need to adjust the cooking time.

Ingredients

1 c
soy sauce
1/2 c
water
1/4 c
vegetable oil
1/4 c
lemon juice
2 Tbsp
sesame seeds
1/4 c
white sugar

green onions, thinly sliced

cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp
ground ginger
2 lb
sirloin steak, cubed

How to Make Yakitori Beef

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a glass or plastic bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oil, water, lemon juice, sesame seeds, sugar, green onions, garlic, and ginger.
  • 2Thread the meat onto skewers. (If you are using wooden skewers, soak them 30 minutes first.) Place the skewers in a plastic or glass container just large enough to hold them, and pour the marinade over the meat, turning to coat well. Cover, and chill for a minimum of 4 hours.
  • 3Preheat grill for high heat, and position grate 5 inches from coals.
  • 4Brush grate with oil, and place skewers on grill. Grill for 10 to 15 minutes, occasionally turning kabobs to ensure even cooking.
