whimpies
This recipe has been in my family for my entire life. It is easy to make, easy to take, and most importantly, easy to double, triple, etc. Does well in a slow cooker or on the stovetop. My grandma always made a huge batch of this every time a family member moved. Grandma got the recipe from her sister who may have gotten it from the newspaper.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Made with minimal ingredients, these whimpies are similar to a sloppy joe sandwich. The homemade sauce gives the ground beef the right amount of sweet and tangy flavor. Onions add a little texture and their unique sweetness. If you have a picky eater that doesn't like onions, substitute with a little onion powder. Serve on a hamburger or potato bun for a quick weeknight meal your family will love.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Step 5If cooking on the stovetop, cover the skillet. Simmer on low for 30 to 45 minutes to let the flavors cook together. If cooking in a slow cooker, cook on high for about 15 minutes. Then turn to low and stir occasionally until ready to serve.
