upside down shepherd's pie
This comforting casserole is made even easier by placing potato slices on the bottom. This is a very forgiving recipe, so feel free to adjust the veggies, soup mix, cheese and steak sauce to suit your family's preferences.

Ingredients
- 4 - potatoes, sliced
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 - onion chopped
- 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon beef or french onion soup mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup frozen corn
- 2 teaspoons steak sauce or a1 sauce
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, whatever you like!)
How To Make upside down shepherd's pie
-
Step 1Wash and sice potatoes medium thick. No need to peel them. Place in bottom of a 2 quart casserole.
-
Step 2Brown the ground beef in frying pan. Add in the onions and stir fry until soft. Sprinkle with flour and dry soup mix and stir fry 2 minutes over medium heat. Add steak sauce and water and stir until bubbly.
-
Step 3Add the veggies and mix into the beef mixture.
-
Step 4Pour meat mixture over the potatoes (salt & pepper the potatoes before this step). Top with grated cheese of your choice. I use Cheddar.
-
Step 5Bake covered at 350 for about an hour, or until potatoes are tender when stuck with the tip of a knife.
