" the spice is right " chili

I love chili,but some are just too spicy and then there are some that are way too mild. So I wanted to try to come up with one that had the right amount of spice, and I think " The Spice is Right " with this one.If you try this I sure hope you enjoy it.Posted to Just A Pinch on August 9th.,2011.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cups finely chopped sweet onion
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 14.5 oz. cans of hunt's seasoned diced tomatoes for chili
  • 2 15.5 oz cans pinto beans, drain one can
  • CHILI SEASONING
  • 1 tablespoon white flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon each of crushed red pepper flakes and sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dried onions
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon each of dried garlic and ground cumin

How To Make " the spice is right " chili

  • Step 1
    In a large dutch oven over medium heat,add ground beef,onion,and seasoned salt.
  • Step 2
    Cook until beef is browned and onion is tender.
  • Step 3
    After returning beef to pan,add tomatoes,beans, and chili seasonings.
  • Step 4
    Stir well to combine ingredients and reduce heat to simmer.The longer the chili simmers the better the flavor.
