  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons hickory liquid smoke
  • 2-3 pounds beef brisket flat, trimmed
  • 1/4 cup beer
  • 3 tablespoons bottled chili sauce

How To Make texas style barbecued beef brisket

  • Step 1
Lightly grease a 6 quart slow cooker; add onion and garlic.
  • Step 2
Stir together the chili powder and the next 5 ingredients. Rub over the brisket; place the brisket over the onion mixture in the slow cooker.
  • Step 3
Whisk together beer and chili sauce. Slowly pour the mixture around the brisket (to avoid removing spices from the brisket).
  • Step 4
Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours, or until fork tender. Uncover and let stand in the slow cooker for 20 minutes.
  • Step 5
Remove the brisket from the slow cooker; cut brisket across the grain into thin slices. Return brisket to the slow cooker, and spoon the pan juices over the meat.
