Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 2 large
    onions, sliced or chopped
  • 2
    green peppers, cut in strips
  • 3 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 1
    no. 2 can of tomatoes
  • 1/2 c
    rice
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper

How to Make Texas Hash

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown onions and green peppers slowly in shortening. Add ground beef and cook until mixture is crumbly. Add tomatoes, rice and seasoning and mix thoroughly. Turn into casserole dish. Cover and continue to cook in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 45 minutes or until done.
