My mom came across this recipe years ago and has been a favorite since..serve with aunt edna's cornbread.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds hamburger
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 3 - minced garlic cloves
- 3 - stalks diced celery
- 2 - large chopped onions
- 1 - 16 oz. can stewed tomatoes
- 3 - 8 oz. cans tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 - bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
- 1 can ( small can) diced or chopped green chilis
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 6 - allspice, whole
- 2 cans 15 oz. cans pinto beans-undrained or (kidney beans)
- 3 tablespoons sugar
How To Make texas chili

Step 1In large pot, brown meat-add garlic, celery, onions and saute 10 min. Add all of the other ingredients..simmer uncovered 1 1/2-2 hrs. Stir often. (Sounds like alot of sugar, etc. but that is the secret ingredient).
