Dice the onion and put it in pan with ground beef cook until ground beef is completely cooked.Do not drain it causes the casserole to be too dry.Place mixture in bottom of casserole dish.
Spoon the 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup on top of the ground beef mixture.
Place all the tator tots on top and bake at 400 for 35 minutes or until tator tots are golden brown.
