Ingredients

  • 3 cups chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce, prepared
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3-4 pounds boneless chuck roast, trimmed
  • 14-18 - hamburger buns

How To Make tangy barbecue sandwiches

  • Step 1
    In a slow cooker, combine the first 12 ingredients; mix well.
  • Step 2
    Add roast.
  • Step 3
    Cover and cook on high for 6-7 hours or until tender.
  • Step 4
    Remove roast; cool.
  • Step 5
    Shred meat and return to sauce; heat through.
  • Step 6
    Use a slotted spoon to serve over split hamburger buns.
