This was a good recipe. It reminded me of Shepherd's Pie just with a cornmeal/corn bread topping.....

  • 1 c
    onion, chopped
  • 1 clove
  • 1 small
    green pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 lb
  • 2 tsp
    chili powder
  • 2 can(s)
    8 oz each tomato sauce
  • dash(es)
  • 1 can(s)
    12 oz corn, drained
  • 1 1/2 c
    shredded cheese
  • 1/2 to 1 c
    chopped olives

How to Make Tamale Pie


  1. cook hamburger, onions and peppers in oil. Add all other ingredients except cheese. Simmer 30 mins. Stir in cheese. Pour in 9x13" baking dish. Cook 2 cups water, 3/4 cup cornmeal, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 Tbsp.butter till thick. Spoon over meat. Bake at 375* for 40 mins.
