Here is another recipe I found that reminds me of my childhood. It was always a treat when Mama would make this.

Ingredients
- - 2 pounds ground beef
- - 2 small 8 oz cans tomato sauce
- - 1 1/2 tsp chili powder/seasoning or taco seasoning
- - 4 cups boiling water
- - 1 tsp salt
- - 1 can 14-16 oz whole kernel corn drained
- - 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- - 1 cup minced onion
- - 1 1/2 cup cornmeal
How To Make tamale pie

Step 1Brown the ground meat and saute the onions until wilted. Drain and season to taste ...add the drained corn, tomato sauce and chili seasoning/taco seasoning to meat mixture. Mix and pour into a greased 9x13 pan.

Step 2To make cornmeal mush: Bring 4 cups water to boil with 1 teaspoon salt. In a bowl mix 1 and 1/2 cups corn meal to 1 and 1/2 cups cold water mix and pour into boiling water and stir over low heat to for 5 minutes. Pour mush over mixture in pan and spread evenly...cook in oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Step 3Turn oven off and sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Leave in the oven until the cheese melts.
