taco salad

I've been making this for over 30 years and have never found anyone that didn't like it. It's so quick and easy you can make it anytime and it's also great for potlucks.

yield 4 large or 6 medium bowls

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large taco seasoning mix
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 1 large lettuce head, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 large avocado, chopped
  • 1 large tomatoe, chopped
  • 1 can black olives, sliced
  • 1 package 8 oz. shredded mexican blend cheese
  • 1 - 1/2 cup taco sauce
  • 1 - 1/2 cup thousand island dressing
  • 4 cups taco chips (i use doritos) slightly crushed

How To Make taco salad

  • Step 1
    Cook ground beef and taco seasoning as directed on package.
  • Step 2
    Meanwhile, chop next six ingredients and mix together with cheese in large bowl.
  • Step 3
    Mix taco sauce and dressing together and pour over salad and mix again.
  • Step 4
    Chill for at least and hour.
  • Step 5
    When ready to serve, add tortilla chips and stir.
