    round steak filets
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1
    large onion, sliced
  • 28 oz
    stewed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper

How to Make Swiss Steak

Step-by-Step

  1. Pound Steak; mix flour and salt in bowl. Dip filets in the flour and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in skillet. Add filets and brown on both sides.
  3. Spread onion over the top of the filets.
  4. Add tomatoes, oregano and black pepper. Add 1/2 cup water. Turn down to simmer and cook 45 minutes or more. Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
