This is my Aunt's recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 lb
    round steak
  • 1 can(s)
    24 oz tomatoe juice
  • 1 can(s)
    15.25 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1-2 c
    all purpose flour
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbsp
    allspice, ground
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil for frying

How to Make Swiss Steak

Step-by-Step

  1. Remove as much fat from meat. Cut in chunks, about 3 oz each.
  2. Mix flour and salt & pepper. Dredge meat in flour mixture.
  3. Brown meat on both sides in frying pan with oil. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Place meat in large/deep roasting pan. Pour on top the tomatoe Juice, diced tomatoes. Sprinkle allspice over top. Cover with foil and bake in a 250 degree oven for 4-5 hours or until meat is fork tender like a pot roast.
