Sweet & Spicy Asian Meatballs

Wanted something Asian for dinner tonight but didn't want to go out or to the store so I came up with this by using ingredients I had on hand. Turned out fabulous.

  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 4 Tbsp
    teriyaki sauce
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1/2 c
    bread crumbs
  • 2 large
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemongrass paste
  • 1 Tbsp
    chinese 5 spice

  • 20 oz
    can chunk pineapple drain reserving juice
  • 2 c
    pineapple juice
  • 6 Tbsp
    teriyaki sauce
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    rice vinegar
  • 8
    birds eye chilies seeds removed and rehydrated in hot water and chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    each oyster sauce and hoisin sauce
  • 4 Tbsp
  • 1/2 c

How to Make Sweet & Spicy Asian Meatballs


  1. For the meatballs. Mix all ingredients together. Shape into balls should make about 30. Brown the meatballs in a frying pan working in batches. Transfer to a baking pan and bake at 350 degrees about 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile make the sauce. Set the pineapple chunks aside and mix the canned juice with the other 2 cups of pineapple juice. Mix all the ingredients together except cornstarch and water. Bring to a boil. Mix the cornstarch and water together and whisk into the sauce to thicken.
  3. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and garnish with the pineapple chunks. Great over rice
