Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 - lbs beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 medium carrots shredded (1 cup)
  • 2 medium onions sliced (1 cup)
  • 1 8 ounces can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon worcester sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • - hot cooked noodles

How To Make sweet- sour beef stew

  • Step 1
    In a 3 qt sauce pan, brown half of the meat at a time in hot oil.
  • Step 2
    In the same pan combine the carrot, onion, tomato sauce, half cp water, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcester and salt.
  • Step 3
    Cover and cook over low heat till meat is tender (about 1 1/2 hours)
  • Step 4
    Blend 1 TBS cold water mixed with the cornstarch to the stew. Continue to cook and stir till thick and bubbly.
  • Step 5
    Serve over noodles
