Alabamie style hearty soup for those winter months ahead

Slow Cooker Crock Pot

Ingredients

3 lb
ground beef, turkey, venison, etc
5-6 c
beef broth or stock
1 c
half and half
fresh ground pepper and kosher or sea salt, to taste
1/2 lb
frozen potato wedges, cooked to package directions
1
onion, diced
1-3
jalapeno peppers, diced(to taste- optional)
28 oz
diced tomatoes (i drained but others do not)
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp
dry mustard
1 tsp
garlic powder
1/3 dash(es)
heinz chili sauce (sub ketchup if you like )
several drops liquid smoke
1 1/4 lb
favorite hard cheese(cheddar, colby, jack, etc...i used colby/jack in the soup then i used another 1/4lb of cheddar added at serving)

FOR GARNISH, OR OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS: CRISP BACON, FRENCH FRIED ONIONS

How to Make Sweet Home Alabama Crockpot Cheeseburger Soup

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine beef, stock, onion, peppers, tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, dill, liquid smoke, and chili sauce in slow cooker.
  • 2Let cook on low about 4-5 hours, until beef is cooked and soup is well heated.
    Add half and half and the first pound of cheese and stir well. Continue to heat on low
  • 3Place a few potato wedges in the bowl, add soup, then garnish with the bacon and fried onions, if using, and the extra cheese.
