Ingredients

  • 12 small
    potatoes, peeled
  • 3 lb
    boneless beef chuck roast
  • 1 Tbsp
    cooking oil
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 15 oz
    can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How to Make Sweet and Sour Pot Roast

Step-by-Step

  1. Place potatoes in a slow cooker.
  2. Trim fat from roast; brown in hot oil on all sides in a skillet.
  3. Place meat in slow cooker.
  4. Discard all but 1 tablespoon drippings from skillet; saute onion until tender.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, vinegar and salt.
  6. Pour over meat and potatoes.
  7. Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until the meat is tender.
  8. Before serving, pour sauce into a skillet.
  9. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until thickened; serve with potatoes and meat.
