boneless beef chuck roast
1 Tbsp
cooking oil
1 c
chopped onion
15 oz
can tomato sauce
1/4 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
3 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp
cider vinegar
1 tsp

How to Make Sweet and Sour Pot Roast


  • 1Place potatoes in a slow cooker.
  • 2Trim fat from roast; brown in hot oil on all sides in a skillet.
  • 3Place meat in slow cooker.
  • 4Discard all but 1 tablespoon drippings from skillet; saute onion until tender.
  • 5Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, vinegar and salt.
  • 6Pour over meat and potatoes.
  • 7Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until the meat is tender.
  • 8Before serving, pour sauce into a skillet.
  • 9Cook and stir over medium-high heat until thickened; serve with potatoes and meat.
