Ingredients

  • 12 small potatoes, peeled
  • 3 pounds boneless beef chuck roast
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 15 ounces can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How To Make sweet and sour pot roast

  • Step 1
    Place potatoes in a slow cooker.
  • Step 2
    Trim fat from roast; brown in hot oil on all sides in a skillet.
  • Step 3
    Place meat in slow cooker.
  • Step 4
    Discard all but 1 tablespoon drippings from skillet; saute onion until tender.
  • Step 5
    Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, vinegar and salt.
  • Step 6
    Pour over meat and potatoes.
  • Step 7
    Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until the meat is tender.
  • Step 8
    Before serving, pour sauce into a skillet.
  • Step 9
    Cook and stir over medium-high heat until thickened; serve with potatoes and meat.
