I found this in an old Taste of Home magazine. Something different for dinner and the ginger snaps are a surprise ingredient. very good and filling.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium
    eggs
  • 1 medium
    onion chopped
  • 1 1/2 c
    dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • SAUCE

  • 3 1/2 c
    tomato juice
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 10
    ginger snaps, finely crushed
  • 1/4 c
    white vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    onion salt

How to Make Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large bowl combine the eggs, onion,bread crumbs and salt. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well.
  2. Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls.
  3. In a large frying pan heat the oil and brown meatballs, in batches. Transfer to a greased 9x13 inch baking pan
  4. In a sauce pan combine all of the sauce ingredients, bring to a boil and stir until the cookie crumbs are completely dissolved
  5. Pour mixture over meatballs bake in a preheated 350 degree oven 35-40 minutes.
