A dear friend of mine made this for my family after I had had a serious surgery and it has become a family favorite ever since. Easy and impressive meal.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
This dish is surprisingly easy to prepare and very tasty. I would happily serve it to guests along with a tossed salad. What a meal! The Test Kitchen
Ingredients
-
1 lbground beef
-
1/2 cdiced onion
-
1/2 cdiced green peppers
-
2 clovegarlic/minced
-
1-15 oz jar(s)Prego spaghetti sauce
-
2 pkgrefrigerated crescent rolls
-
4-8 slicemozzerella cheese
-
1 pkgsliced Hormel pepperoni
How to Make Stromboli
- Brown first 4 ingredients in skillet till beef is no longer pink. Drain. Add to spaghetti sauce and cool to room temperature. (can be made in advance)
Unroll one package of crescent rolls on very lightly floured countertop. Pinch seams together front and back. Roll with rolling pin to about 9x11 rectangle.
Place 2 slices of cheese in center of rectangle. Spoon half of beef mixture on top of cheese, (you can top with 2 more slices of cheese if you like alot of cheese). Fold one long side into center, then fold the other long side to center, pinching seam. Fold short ends under and pinch (making a pouch) Place seam side down on cookie sheet. Repeat with other crescent roll.
Bake 350 for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Let set for 5 minutes before cutting.
