steamed barbecued spareribs

I used to make these all the time; I haven't for awhile now. One thing I can tell you is that these are worth making. We all love them. This recipe uses Country Style Spareribs!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds country style spare ribs, 3 inch lengths
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar or apple cider
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 cup catsup
  • 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)

How To Make steamed barbecued spareribs

  • Step 1
    Brown ribs on both sides in a skillet. Place the browned ribs in a large saucepan that has a cover. Mix remaining ingredients together and pour over browned ribs. Cook on high heat until ribs start steaming then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until ribs are tender about 1 1/2 hours.
  • Step 2
    Keep ribs covered while simmering to keep liquid in.
