Spoon Burgers were popular back in the 30’s during the days of the Depression. This is a simple supper and easy on the ol’ grocery budget. It was actually a delicious, filling meal!

Ingredients

chuck, cut into 3/4 inch cubes
1 1/2 c
water
1 Tbsp
salt
1/4 c
oil
1 c
chopped onions
2 clove
garlic, chopped
2 Tbsp
sugar
2 tsp
paprika
1 tsp
pepper
1 1/2 tsp
dry mustard
1/3 c
vinegar
1/3 c
dark molasses
1/4 c
worcestershire sauce
2 can(s)
(6 oz) tomato paste

How to Make Spoonburgers

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine beef, water, and salt.

    Simmer covered, until tender.
  • 2Saute' onion and garlic in oil; add vegetables to oil.

    Add sugar and remaining ingredients to beef.
  • 3Cover and simmer for about one hour or until sauce is thick and beef is very tender.
