round steak filets
1 c
celery rib, sliced


1 c
green onions, chopped
1/3 c
soy sauce
1 Tbsp
garlic clove, crushed
3/4 c
1 tsp
1/2 tsp
1/3 c
salad oil
1 c
tomatoes, chopped
1.5 c
bell pepper, julienned

How to Make Spicy Pepper Steak


  • 1Remove seeds and membranes from the bell peppers and slice lengthwise into strips.
  • 2Cut the beef across the grain into thin strips.
  • 3Combine the soy sauce, garlic, paprika, ginger and 2/3 of the oil.
  • 4Add the beef strips, toss to blend and let the beef marinate at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  • 5Prepare the vegetables while the meat is marinating.
  • 6Remove the meat from the marinade.
  • 7Strain the marinade and set aside.
  • 8Heat the remaining oil in a wok or large, heavy frying pan.
  • 9Add the beef and toss over high heat until the beef is well browned.
  • 10If the meat isn\'t tender enough at this time, add a little water and simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
  • 11Remove the meat and set aside.
  • 12Add all the vegetables except the tomatoes.
  • 13Turn up the heat (medium or high) and toss the vegetables, cooking until tender-crisp (about 10 minutes).
  • 14Add the meat.
  • 15Mix the cornstarch with water and add to the pan.
  • 16Cook, stirring steadily, until thickened.
  • 17Add the tomatoes and salt and pepper to taste.
  • 18Reheat.
  • 19Serve over cooked rice or noodles.
