Ingredients

  • 2 lb
    beef sirloin steak, boneless
  • 1.5 tsp
    pepper
  • 3/4 tsp
    caraway seeds
  • 3/4 tsp
    turmeric, ground
  • 1/4 tsp
    cardamom seeds, crushed

How to Make Spicy Grilled Steak (Shawayuh)

Step-by-Step

  1. Slash outer edge of fat on beef steak diagonally at 1-inch intervals to prevent curling (do not cut into lean).
  2. Mix together remaining ingredients.
  3. Sprinkle on both sides of beef and lightly press into beef.
  4. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  5. Grill beef 4 to 5 inches from medium hot coals, turning 2 or 3 times.
  6. Cook to desired doneness, 25 to 35 minutes for medium.
  7. Cut into serving pieces.
