Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef sirloin steak, boneless
  • 1.5 teaspoons pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 3/4 teaspoon turmeric, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom seeds, crushed

How To Make spicy grilled steak (shawayuh)

  • Step 1
    Slash outer edge of fat on beef steak diagonally at 1-inch intervals to prevent curling (do not cut into lean).
  • Step 2
    Mix together remaining ingredients.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle on both sides of beef and lightly press into beef.
  • Step 4
    Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  • Step 5
    Grill beef 4 to 5 inches from medium hot coals, turning 2 or 3 times.
  • Step 6
    Cook to desired doneness, 25 to 35 minutes for medium.
  • Step 7
    Cut into serving pieces.
