spicy chili in a bread bowl

I love chili super spicy but you can cut the spicy ingredients in half if you prefer. My brother loves this chili! whenever he comes to visit me it is the first thing he asks for! It's pretty simple to make but big on taste!

Ingredients

  • - 2 medium jalepenos diced (do not touch seeds with hands when dicing jalepenos..true story my aunt burnt her hands from doing this)
  • - 1 lb ground beef
  • - 3 t olive oil
  • - 2 medium onions , chopped (you should have 2 to 2 1/2 cups)
  • - 1 large green pepper chopped (about 1 to 1 1/4 cups)
  • - 1 t chili powder
  • - 1 t cumin
  • - 1/4 t cayenne pepper
  • - 1 can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • - 1 can whole tomatos
  • - 1/4 c tomato paste
  • - 1 can corn, drained
  • - salt, garlic powder
  • - 4 small round bread loaves or 1 large round bread loaf

How To Make spicy chili in a bread bowl

  • Step 1
    slice off top of bread and pull out inside to make a "bowl"
  • Step 2
    In large nonstick skillet brown ground beef. Drain and set aside
  • Step 3
    In this same skillet heat oil and add onions. Cook about five minutes. Add peppers, jalepeno, and all seasonings. Stirring while cooking for about another five minutes.
  • Step 4
    Return beef to skillet and add tomatos with their liquid,and tomato paste. Bring to a boil.
  • Step 5
    Turn heat to low and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes. Add beans and corn and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Spoon chili into bread bowls and top with a dollop of sour cream, or sprinkle with shredded cheddar jack cheese.
