Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1 tablespoon garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 4 - hamburger buns, toasted and buttered
- 4 slices red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 slices tomato
How To Make spiced hamburgers

Step 1Combine oil and onion in a small skillet over medium heat and cook, stirring, about 4 minutes, or until onions soften.

Step 2Add garlic, pepper, red pepper and continue to cook another minute.

Step 3Scrape the onion mixture into a mixing bowl, add the beef and mix well.

Step 4Form 4 patties, place on a plate, cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Step 5Place a large, heavy skillet on the stove over high heat.

Step 6When it is nearly smoking, add the hamburger patties.

Step 7Cook 2 minutes.

Step 8Turn the patties and cook on the other side until desired doneness, about 1 minute for very rare, 4 minutes for medium-well.

Step 9Arrange burgers on hamburger buns and garnish each with a slice of onion and tomato.

Step 10Offer ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.
