Ingredients
- 1 - recipe meatballs (in jap), prepared
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup onion, minced
- 1 cup green pepper, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 36 ounces contadina tomato paste
- 45 ounces hunts tomato sauce
- 9 cans cold water from hunts can
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fennel
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon basil

Step 1After making meatballs, strain oil and use to brown meats, onion, pepper, garlic and salt. Add ingredients down to the water. Skim fat from surface, bring to a boil. Add all but basil, simmer about 2 hours. Tilt lid to allow some of the steam to escape. Keep sauce bubbling slightly. Add meatballs, simmer 1 hour to thicken. Add basil.
