Another recipe from yet another Aunt. She made the best spaghetti sauce. And why wouldn't she? She was full blood Italian and was a great cook. Her sauce is a little different than most, she made a sweet sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (turkey or sausage if desired)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 6-10 medium mushrooms; sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic; garlic press
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sweet basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 - bay leaves

How To Make spaghetti sauce - from aunt ann

  • Step 1
    In a skillet brown ground beef and drain. Saute diced onions, garlic, mushrooms in olive oil.
  • Step 2
    In a 6-8 Qt sauce pan combine beef, onions, garlic, & mushrooms. Add tomato sauce and paste along with 1 - 15 oz can water and 1 - 6 oz can water.
  • Step 3
    Add all remaining items and stirring well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 3 to 4 hours. Check on every 30 minutes or so and stir.
