How to Make Southern-Style Brown Stew
- Dip beef into flour. Brown an all sides in shortening in skillet. Add 4 cups boiling water and next 6 ingredients. Simmer for 2 hours, stirring frequently.
- Add vegetables. Cook for 30 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender. Thicken stew with flour if desired.
